  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
This act forced all American colonist to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, licenses, legal documents, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. The colonist became very unhappy and their rebellion ranged from boycotts on British goods, riots, and attacks on the tax collectors. The British Government repealed the stamp act in 1776, because of the protesting of the colonist, but they enacted the Declaratory act the same day.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
This act was made so that the Parliament could gain full authority over the colonies. This meant that they could pass any law they felt was needed. The colonist feared to protest this act, because they did not wish to receive the same treatment the Irish did. The British Government did not repeal the act until 1964. Without the colonist protesting they were able to enforce it longer.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
This act was made for the British East India Company Tea, and this allowed the tea company to have absolute control over the tea. With the tea company having control they also implemented taxes, which the colonists were not pleased with. Eventually the colonists had enough and planned out an attack known as the "Boston Tea Party", where around 92,000 pounds of tea were dumped into the Boston Harbor. The British Government did not repeal this act until 1861.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
The Boston Port Act was one of the Intolerable, made to reaffirm British authority over the American colonies. It was enacted by Parliament in reaction to the Boston Tea Party. This act closed off the port of Boston until the colonist paid back the tea that they destroyed, which was a lot of money. Some of the colonist wanted to repay, but others did not. This British Government had repealed this act because it had not gone as planned.
