  • Radio Invented

    Radio Invented
Marconi invented the first radio. In 1895 the first radio signal was sent out. The radio signal could've been anything.
  • Spark Gap Transmitter Invented

    Spark Gap Transmitter Invented
It allowed the invention of the first commercial radios. The spark gap radios had a lot of problems. They were later solved by the invention of something else.
  • Audion Tube Invented

    Audion Tube Invented
In 1906, Lee De Forest invented the audion tube. It was a tube that amplified the signals from the radio. Fessenden is believed to have actually came up with the idea but it wasn't known.
  • Radio Stations

    Radio Stations
About 25 years after the radio was invented they made radio stations. Radio stations play music on them. Frank Conrad made the first station. It still exists in Pennsylvania today.
  • Crystal Radio Sets Invented

    Crystal Radio Sets Invented
Crystal radio sets solved the problem of the spark gap. They were the first radio sets used all across America. The last problem was that AM would get blocked by buildings.
  • The Dawn of Advertising

  • FRC

    FRC
In 1927 the FRC was established. This happened because Uncle Charlie was too popular. You had to have a licensed transmitter, radio station frequencies, call letters, and power limits.
  • The Golden Era

    The Golden Era
This was during the Great Depression. A war was also going on at this time. When people came home they could listen to music and it would make them happy.
  • Radio Progression

    Radio Progression

  • Transistor Radio Invented

    Transistor Radio Invented
The transistor radio had specific things better than the crystal. They were much cheaper than the crystal ones. They lasted longer, were smaller, and were cheaper.
