  • Introduction

    Introduction
Jennifer Lawrence was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 15, 1990. Jennifer’s big break came when she was discovered at 14 while on spring break in New York with her family. Things happened quickly after that: she signed on with the CESD Talent Agency, who convinced her parents to let her audition for roles in Los Angeles. Considering acting to be a natural fit for her, she turned down several offers for modelling assignments at the time.

Jennifer stayed in New York City for the summer, acting in commercials for MTV and filming the 2007 thriller Devil You Know with Lena Olin. Soon after, Jennifer and her family moved to Los Angeles, where she had small roles on the series Medium, Monk and Cold Case, before landing a part on the TBS series, The Bill Engvall Show. While working on the series, she also appeared in feature films including The Poker House and The Burning Plain alongside Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger.

Jennifer went on to appear in the critically acclaimed Winter’s Bone, which earned her numerous nominations. Opportunities continued to pour in, and she later appeared in The Beaver with celebrities including Jodie Foster. She also took on the role of Mystique in X-Men: First Class. Jennifer became a box-office sensation as the lead in The Hunger Games. The film broke box-office records on opening weekend. The franchise has earned more than $2.8 billion dollars at the global box office.
  • Decline

    Decline
In 2016, Jennifer starred in a movie called Passengers. The movie didn’t fare well with critics, who blasted the flawed plot. “I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t spot it,” she said. "I thought the script was beautiful, it was this tainted, complicated love story. It definitely wasn’t a failure. I’m not embarrassed by it by any means. There was just stuff that I wished I’d looked into deeper before jumping on.”

It's safe to say that Passengers did not destroy Jennifer's career. In March 2018, she will star as a Russian spy in the espionage thriller Red Sparrow directed by Francis Lawrence. She has committed to star in her fourth X-Men film, subtitled Dark Phoenix. Her and Amy Schumer have written a screenplay for a film in which they will star. She will star in Steven Spielberg's film It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War, and will feature in Adam McKay's film Bad Blood.
