  • Iraq Kurdish Revolt

    1961-1970 Mustafa Barzani, in an attempt to establish Kurdish state in North Iraq. Throughout 1960 the uprising escalated into a long war. The war ended by 1970. There were between 75,000 to 105,000 injuries or deaths.
  • Lebanese Civil War

  • Egyptian-Libyan Border War

    At one point Egypt and Lybia were on good terns. After 1973s Arab-Israel war, Egypt turned West and became friendlier with the US. Egyptian president started to make peace moves toward Israel. Libya's leader strongly allied still with the Soviet Union showed he didn't like Egypts moves towards peace with Israel; Organized a "March on Cairo" June 1977 to protest against Egypt. After the march was stopped Libyan weapons fired at Egyptians border town, Sallum. Lybian tropps carried out raid.
  • Iraq Shia Unrest in Karbala

    Ended by the Saddam regime. Under Saddam Hussein the Shia were a persecuted religious group because of the numeral majority in the country.
  • First Persian Gulf War

    !980-1988: in 1975 Iran and Iraq had an agreement on the agrued Arab waterway that provides Iraq's only way to the sea. They exchanged, Iran stopped support for Kurdish rebels and Iraq let them used the Shatt-al Arab waterway. This and arguments over their common border and believing that the 1979 revolution weakened Iran led Iraq's leader to invade Septembber 22,1980. By 1988 both of the nations got tired and after nearly a million deaths or injuries occured between them they agreed to end.

The morning of December 9 riots started and a 17 year old was killed by an Israeli soldier. This started the wave of unrest that engulfed the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem. In the first 4 years of the uprising more than 3,600 Molotov cocktail attacks, 100 hand grenade attacks, and 600 assaults were reported.

With the authority of the United Nations and leadership of the United States. To defent the US, to defend the oil-rich kingdom in Saudi Arabia, and to force Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait.
  • The Second Intifada

    Began at the end of September. There is no defenite ending date, some say February, 2005. The economy of the West Bank and Gaza was ruined by security. The second Intafida created two positive achievements for the palestians. It brought about the evacuation of the Gaza strip by Israel. It also brought home tje settlement project and the dream of "Greater Israel" was imposible. The intifada ruined the basis of the Israeli peace camp.
