The American Psychiatric Association published it's first Diagnostic and Statistical Manual or DSM-I with a section about gross stress reaction. -
DSM-II
The first revision of the manual was published. The diagnosis for gross stress reaction was removed without explanantion. -
DSM-III
New diagnostic criteria published in the third edition of the diagnostic manual. -
DSM-IV
The definition of the stressor was further modified in the fourth revision of the diagnostic manual.
