  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was a territory bought by the US from France which included New Orleans an important port to the Mississippi river.
    The original plan was to just buy and take control of New Orleans but during the negotiations Napoleon offered New Orleans and the Louisiana Territory for 15 million.
  • Marbury V. Madison

    The court case that proved the Judicial law to be unconstitutional and thus setting a precedent for Judicial Review. Giving the Supreme court the ability to review any laws they believe to be unconstitutional.
  • The Era Of Good Feelings

    After the war only the Democratic-Republican party would still be in power promoting a showing of unity. Although the party had begun to fracture and one side began to take on a more federalist view on slavery.
  • Henry Clay System

    It was a system of government broken into 3 parts: tariffs, banks and international improvements. The tariffs to promote trade, the second national bank to control the money, and canals, roads and ect. to improve transportation and land.
  • CommonWealth V. Hunt

    Supreme Court ruled that the peaceful unions had a right to negotiate labor contracts with their bosses. Due to the ruling work days were shortened to 10 hours long while many other improvements were limited by periodic depression, hostility and immigrant workers.
  • Missouri Compromise

    In order to keep the Country balanced the sates had to have a even number of both slave and free states, until Missouri happened. Missouri was being considered for statehood and in order to keep the balance it was a slave state, while Maine was a free state.
