Earth formation pic

Period 2, Vo & Dao, History of Earth

  • (5 BYA) Formation of solar system and sun

(5 BYA) Formation of solar system and sun
Formed by a gravitational collaspe of a small part of a molecular cloud
  • ( 4.6 BYA) Earth began to form

( 4.6 BYA) Earth began to form
Formed by accretion from the solar nebula
  • (4 BYA) Age of Earth

    (4 BYA) Age of Earth
  • (4 BYA) Most cells were all heterotroph.

There was no oxygen on the earth so they were anarobic. So they ate natually occuring food and didn't breathe oxygen.
  • (3.5 BYA) Lyngbya Cells Roam the Earth

(3.5 BYA) Lyngbya Cells Roam the Earth
  • (3 BYA) Lifeform were photosynthesizers

  • (2.2 BYA) Earth appears as it does today

(2.2 BYA) Earth appears as it does today
  • (2 BYA) O2 levels reached todays levels

  • (1.5 BYA) Small prokaryotic reproduce

  • (1 BYA) Ozone (O3) formed

  • Redi Experiment 1600s-1700s

    Redi Experiment 1600s-1700s
Redi was experimenting ways to find that living thins don't come from non living things. While he was creating the experiment it was composed with meat wtih a jar. The control experiment was with the jar left open and the other sealed . Turn out to be that flies enter inside the jar that was left open and laid maggots on it. This conduct that no living matters can be from non living objects.
  • The first microscope 1655

    The first microscope 1655
A microscope was first made in 1655 by a guy name Robert Hooke. The microscope was ued to still small organism that were found pretty much everywhere.
  • 1700s-1800s Spallazini Experiment

    1700s-1800s Spallazini Experiment
Spallazini was trying to also find ways how people get sick and diseases instead of random act of supernatural forces. Spallazini conducted this by boiling the broth inside the flask. After that was done he sealed one of the flask and became experimental group, while the other that was not sealed was a control group. At the end it turns out that the open flask was contaminated by microorganism. Thus finding out that there was organism in the air.
  • 1800s-1900s Pasteur findings

    1800s-1900s Pasteur findings
After the experiment that Spallazini conducted, not much people understand it and said the vital force was in lack. So Pasteur came by and also conducted his own experiment but using the small as Spallazini did but with a different touch. Pasteur added a curved neck to his flask and boiled it. After a year it was still clear, but when he removed the curve, it was contaminated in one day. Thus finding that microorganism was in the air and came that made the water dirty.
  • 1900s-Present Oparin hypothesis

    1900s-Present Oparin hypothesis
Oparin hypothesized that the formation of amino acid and protein were created by a non living things.
  • 1900s-Present Urey and Miller

    1900s-Present Urey and Miller
Urey and Miller was using Oparin hypothesis to confirm it, if it was true. By all they did was producing a variety of organic compounds. This happened because they were combining a variety of organic compounds and thus making and more compounds.
  • 1900s-Present

    1900s-Present
Sydnay Fox researched physical structures that may have given rise to the first cells. Fox was experimenting with simple organic chemicals. After experimenting them he conducted that cell structures and a chemical reactions is required to have enzymes since it were indicated by the genetic information.
  • 1900s-Present Thomas Cech

Thomas found that a type of Rna can act as a chemical cataylst. Cech discovery found that ribozymes can act as catalyst for their own replication. Since by that it was used by protein synthesis in roder to replicate RNA.
  • 1900s-Present Lynn Margulis

    1900s-Present Lynn Margulis
Lynn proposed that early prokaryotic cells developed a mutually beneficial relationship. It means that a small part of prokaryote lives in eukaryotic cells and grows inside and become bigger.
