Children- Emily and Oskar Jr. Schlegel Turned into a heavy drinker after his dads business failed. Was said he kept that lifestyle for most of his life.

    Attended trade schools throughout his life. Sold farm equipment for his dad's business. Left his dads business to work as sales manager for a Moravian elecric company. Than he went to sell goverment property in Brno. In the 1930s his family became bankrupt in the deep economic depression. He joined the Nazi party, after going without employment for awhile.

    Oskar Schindler - little backround information
    Oskar saved Jew in Poland and Czechoslovakia from death at the hands of the Nazis during WWII by giving them work in his factory. Arrived in Poland at the camps on September 8, 1939 after hearing what was going on. To get money, he bought this factory in Krakov and wanted to employ Jews as cheap labor. Used to be a former member of the Nazi party. Joined to take advantage of the economic oppurtunitys the war provided.

    Opened up factory's to help people. Employed 1,700 workers. He had two other facotry's but at only one factory he employed Jewish workers who lived around the Krakov ghetto area. His workers were promised they never would be starved, hit, murdered, sent to death camps, and that he would protect them the best he could. The factory wasnt in the best shape. Workers were freezing and it was lice-ridden. Some suffered from typhus and dysentery. Accounts revealed he has spent around $4 million

    One because he kissed a jewish girl which was forbidden by the Race and Resettlement act.
    Second and third because of suspicion of black market activites.

    He joined the Nazi party whe he was 22 years old. His plan was to liquidate more than 2 million polish jews. Later arrested for what he had done in 1944.

    Applied for an entry permit to U.S, was denied because he was apart of the Nazi party. Settled down in Regensburg Germany. Than immigrated to Argentia. Left Emalia to go back to Germany. He than became bankrupt.
    He never saw her again. His awards: "Righteous Among the Nations"
    Her awards: "Order of May" & "Illustrious citizen"
