    This was a huge movement for music. People really started to like dancing and restaraunts had to start adding dance floors. People were now getting paid to write songs. Also a mixture of blues and ragtime, called Jazz, was created.

In its early years jazz was considered the devils music by diverse segments of the American public.

    American taste in music changed dramatically. In the mainstream it moved from the bland and unchallenging "sweet" sound of Guy Lombardo and the Jazz Age dance bands to the more rhythmically involved and aggressive horn arrangements of the bandleaders of the Swing Era such as Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and many others.

The biggest artst of this time period was The King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley.

The punk rock genre also emerged in the 1970s. This was a style that continued on the legacy of the 1960s but with a more upbeat and harder style.
