    When Michael Oher was eight years-old, the state of Tennessee took Michael and his brothers and sisters away from his birth mother as her drug addiction and abuse was beginning to affect Michael and his siblings.     On March 4, 2004 Michael Oher was fortunate enough to move in with the Tuohy family and get off the dangerous Memphis streets of Tennessee ("Michael Oher Biography."). Oher would come and stay as he pleased at the beginning of his stay.     Michael Oher officially visits Ole Miss
    After seeing interests from many Division 1 schools and universities, Michael Oher takes his official visit to the University of Mississippi. As Ole Miss was a definite possibility for Michael's new home and new team to be, it was important to take an offcial visit to the school and get a feel for both the campus and the football team that he would be playing with ("From Homeless to the NFL: Oher's Journey to Draft Unique - USATODAY.com.").

    Adopted by the Tuohy family
    After taking Michael off of the streets, the Tuohy's decided that it was important to both them and Michael to truly unite and become one as a family( "From Homeless to the NFL: Oher's Journey to Draft Unique - USATODAY.com."). Both Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy said that they love Michael just as much as they have ever loved their biological children (Mink).

    Michael Oher commits to Ole Miss
    After visting many Disvision one colleges and universities Michael Oher makes his decision to attend the University of Mississippi. Both his adoptive mother and adoptive father went to Ole Miss and are major advcates and continual contributors to the University. Michael said it was completely his choice and he did not feel pressure from anyone on the outside, it was just where he felt he should be attending school and hopefully playing the game he loves ("Sports Files with Geoff Calkins”).

    Graduated from Briarcrest Christian School
    After being prospected by many major universities and many NFL teams, and finally commiting to the University of Mississippi, Michael Oher is able to graduate from Briarcrest Christian School on May 1, 2005. By walking across the stage to grab the diploma, Michael Jerome Oher surprised everyone by being the first of his family to recieve a high school diploma ("The Ballad of Big Mike." ).
