    Kansas-Nebraska Act.
    It was the bill for the organization of the State of Nebraska. It contained a compromise for the North and the South and shows that the Government didn't want to take a stance on slavery. It was caused by the North and South disagreeing on wether new states should be slave states are not. It allows new states to decide by popular sovereignty wether slavery would be outlawed or not.

    Bleeding Kansas.
    "Bleeding Kansas" was a fight between Northerns and Southerns over wether Kansas should be a slave state or not. The North believed that Kansas should be a free state and the South thought Kansas should be a slave state. Because of popular sovereignty, many rushed over to vote and cause a lot of violence. Kansas was admitted as a free state eventually.

    Written by Roger Taney, a slave trying to keep his freedom during trial was refused his freedom because he was a Black man. This shows that there was a lot of racism against freed African Americans and slaves by white Americans, and even court cases showed the Racism. It was caused by the racism of the Whites and it further divided the north and the south. It also became a key component to the Republicans' Platform

    During the Election of 1800, Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln was elected. He was not a fan of slavery or the south, but he wasnt an abolititionist. He was elected by getting votes where he knew he could get them. When he was elected, the south got very angry.

    South Carolina sececed from the Union. It shows that South Carolina was unhappy under the laws of the United States Government and wanted to continue their practice of slavery. South Carolina didn't want to abolish slavery and therefore seceded so the government couldn't stop them.
