    Slow Poke RodriguezThe Looney Tune character, Slow Poke Rodriguez ,is a cartoon version of the stereotype that latinos are lazy, dirty, and "slow".
    In the clip above the cartoon includes two cats with broken english and "the slowest mouse in the town" (Slow Poke Rodriguez)

    In 1977,Rita Moreno became the first Hispanic American and the second person ever to have won an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony, and an Emmy, picking up the last of those for her performance as guest host on The Muppet Show. Edward Hidalgo an Mexican American, was given the title Secretary of the Navy in 1979.In 1973,Roberto Clemente, was the first Hispanic player to serve on the Players Association Board and to make 3,000 hits in one season.
  • Chico and the Man

    -1st prime show to star a Hispanic actor
    -Chico was played by Freddie Prinze, who was of Puerto Rican decent, but played Mexican on the show
    -Some viewers was offended by the show, even though it was an great accomplish
    -Some were offended that the show was titled "Chico and the Man"
    -Chico is Spanish slang for boy, so the title can be defined as the boy and the man, and can give the perception that whites were superior to Hispanics
    -People was also offended that they had Chico living in a van
  • Cha Cha DiGregorio (Grease)

  • Walk Proud

    • Purpose was to show a positive message to it's audience, but created negative images of Hispanic men -Showed Hispanic men as being gang members, dead beat fathers, and alcoholics
  • Scarface

    Scarface ClipIn the Latinos are portrayed as being drug dealers/ gangsters. In the 1983 movie "Scareface", Al pacon plays a Cuban drug dealler named Tonny Montana.
  • Image change

    In the 1990's groups like National Hispanic Media Coalition, the Imagen Foundation, the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, help change the images of Hispanics in the media. More latino characters were being protrayed by Latino actors, and more positive images were being shown.
  • My Family

    Mi Familia was produced by latino producer Gregory Nava's, unlike other latino movies in the past, the film didn't protray Latino's as being buffons or ganagbangers. The film follows nearly 60 years in the life of a Latino family whose roots in the United States date back to the 1920s. Released in 1995,the film addresses themes central to the immigrant experience, and the family journey toward success.
  • Selena

    Gregory Nava also was the producer for the film "Selena". Eventhough the movie didn't show latin men(because of the way Selena father force success on Selena) in such a positive light, it was the first film to earn a Latina actress(Jennifer Lopez) over a million dollars.
  • Negative views

    Mi Vida LocaMovie's like Mi Vida Loca and Do the Right Thing, showed Latinas in a negative light. Mi Vida Loca show young women of Mexican decent as being teen mothers and gang members; and Do the Right Thing perceived Hispanic women as being feisty.
  • Nepolean Dynamite's Pedro

    Napoleon Dynamite's PedroIts not evident if the creators of Nepolean Dynamite tried to take a shot at the Latino community. Through out the movie pedro doesn't seem to say much, but if he did, he said it in mono tone with no expression.
  • Crash

    Locksmith scene on Crash (2004)This movie by itself contains false stereotypes. For example, Daniel (played by michael pena) is a locksmith who is discriminated against because he looks like a gangbanger.
  • Family guy

    Consuela kicks brian outKnown for their frequent subliminal messages, Family guy created a new character in episode named, Consuela ,the hispanic housekeeper. In the episode they potray hispanics to know little to "NO" english (notice Consuela frequently uses the word no)
  • Next Friday

    The joker brothers(Clip from next friday)
    The movie next friday portrays latinos to be gangsters, who wear dickie suites, and drive low riders.
