Stamp Act Congress
A meeting held in New York City consisting of delegates from 9 of the 13 colonies that discussed and acted upon the recently passed Stamp Act. -
Townshend Acts
The key statute levied import duties on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. Its purpose was to provide salaries for some colonial officials so that the provincial assemblies could not coerce them by withholding wages. -
Boston Massacre
Tension between American colonists and British troops eventually led to a riot that killed five colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
In an attempt to have colonists acknowledge Parliament's right to tax them, the British passed the Tea Act, an incredibly low tax on tea. Ships that docked in the Boston Harbors infuriated colonists which decided to dump the tea out to sea. :D -

Second Continental Congress
Second Continental Congress agreed to appoint George Washington as commander of the colonial troops around Boston. He would become Commander of all the continental forces. -

Written by Thomas Jefferson; lists the grievances againts King George and ideals individual liberties. -

The Articles created a loose confederation of sovereign states and a weak central government, leaving most of the power with the state governments. -
