    The purpose of the Sugar Act was that it lowerd the tax on imported molasses, hoping that the colonists would quite smuggling and pay the taxes because they were lowered. The outcome lead to angry colonist that thought that their rights were violated because the British soliders had the option to search your home even if it was not with your consent.
