  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles
    The Treaty of Versailles was the main factor that ended World War I, and it was officially signed on June 28, 1919. It was written by a negotiation of allied powers in which had little to no alliance with Germany. The treaty stated the boarders of Germany and put restrictions on the size of their military, weakening Germany to the best of their ability. They also came to the conclusion that Germany must pair for repairs and damage that had been caused by the war.
  • League of Nations

    League of Nations
    The League of Nations was the world's first international security organization to go into operation. It was created to solve disputes between countries, before they had erupted into warfare. The United States had not joined, and Germany and Soviet Russia had not been admitted to join.
  • Communist International

    Communist International
    Founded in obscurity in March of 1919, the Comintern had gained the leverage to split the European socialist parties, and also establish a more significant Communist party in all countries. They had gradually assimilated to the Bolshevik model party, and eventually by the 1920's they had nearly most to all slavishly subservient to direction from Moscow
  • Fascism in Italy

    Fascism in Italy
    Mussolini had finally achieved in taking power in Italy. His ideas and goals began to gain popularity, and his main goal was to bring Italy up to the top with power. In October of 1922 he led the Fascists on a march in Rome, which led King Emmanuel III to ask Mussolini to form a new government. He had finally achieved what he had wanted and he was sharing many of his beliefs with the country.

    Hopeful Years
    The Depression had caused slow recovery for my European countries. People were trying to manage their lives and they had finally began feeling more hopeful and started having a better feeling about life. Countries had been beginning to make amends with each other. Treaties and many agreements were being made to increase good relationships between countries. Also, Germany was admitted to the League of Nations, which was a bog step in leaving behind WWI disputes.

    Stalin in Power in Russia
    Stalin began rising to power in Russia after the death of Lenin. He had taken full control of the nation after he had defeated his last most major political power rival. In order to control the nation, he used the method of force, by using purges of fear. He had also attempted to make Russia an industrial powerhouse. He also found it important to spread his communist beliefs with people in his country as well as out of it.
  • Depression

    Depression
    In October of 1929, the United States economy had been rapidly expanding and the nation's total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929. In August of that year, the stock market reached it's peak and the market underwent rapid expansion. Production was declining and the rate of unemployment was rising. Once the stock market had officially crashed in October 1929, which majorly sparked the Depression.

    Japan Invades Manchuria
    On Sept. 18, 1931 Japan launched an attack on Manchuria. Japanese armies opened an undeclared war. Japan had been angry that they were not considered when the Treaty of Versailles was being written, and the League of Nations had attempted to weaken Japan, but these attempts failed, which ending up weakening peoples trust in the League of Nations.
  • Third Reich

    Third Reich
    Hitler had successfully became chancellor of Germany in 1933. After this had taken place, in the span of a couple short months the Nazi party had full control of the entire country. They then began expanding the military against the Treaty of Versailles. And in order to bring Germany back to power and gain back the reputation of being the strongest country, Hitler began preparing for another in order to achieve this.

    Germany Starts to go it Alone
    After nine long months of Hitler being in control of the nation, he withdrew from the League of Nations, and he even left the disarmament conference as well. He is building up and preparing for the war he wants to fight, and is anxious to act his preparations and to but them to action.
