    The Smiths released their self titled debut in early 1984, and it reached number 2 in the UK charts, but was met with controversy over aleged paedophilia.
  • The Stone Roses Play Blackpool

  • Oasis Formed

    Liam and Noel Gallagher formed Oasis in Manchester in early 1991, recruiting Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarrol.
  • Blur V Oasis

    As the first, and to this day, biggest, brit pop marketing stunt, Oasis and Blurs respective labels chose to release the two singles of the time (Oasis' "Roll With It" against Blurs "Country House") and to compete for the top spot of the time. Eventually, Blur won over Oasis.

    Oasis played a festival at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, with over 2.6 million people applying for tickets, which is the highest demand for a concert in british history.
