They were built during the 20th century by Frank Lloyd Wright and remained popular until about 1920. There are lots of characteristics of Prairie houses integrated into many current styles

    Tudor houses have steeply pitched gable roofs, an embellished doorway, decorative half-timbering, and wood framework. They were built for wealthy homeowners and made up the largest portion of houses between 1920 & 1930. These houses were around during the 19th century

    The Dutch Colonial has a door that is divided in half horizontally and has gambrel roofing. It also has an off center chimney and small pane windows. These houses were around during the 19th and 20th century

    The Ranch houses have a modern look to them and they have an attached garage. These houses are one level with open floor plans. The first one was built in the 1920s and were inspired by Spanish Colonial homes in Southern America. It was the perfect suburb post WWll house. These houses were around during the 20th century and are still built today

    The Split-Level has a garage, stairs, and the main level has basic rooms such as the kitchen and living rooms. This house is the second most popular house next to a ranch house and have a lot more room without having to expand. These houses were homes for families and were around during the 20th century

    International houses have rectilinear forms and light surfaces. They have open interior space, visually weightless, glass and steel, and reinforced concrete. These houses were popular in Latin America & Asia because people wanted a new style of a house. These houses were around during the 20th century and are still present

    Earth Sheltered houses can control outside temperatures and activity and have energy efficient features. These houses also require less outside maintenance. They are found all over the world and the prehistoric time date back to 3180 BC-2500 BC. They were around during the 20th century

    The Solar house has panels installed on the roof, fans and pumps. Active solar is when fans and pumps move heated air or liquid to a stored area or wherever heat is needed. Passive solar has no working parts and has a design that makes maximum use sun for heating and might include large areas of windows on the southern side of the house, and has dark colored walls to absorb the sun to gradually transfer it inside.
