    The French and Indian War Ends
    England defeats the French. England got a lot of territory but they were in massive debt. They believed that the colonists should have to help with war debt.
  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    This set regulations to trade with Britain colonies. Colonial trade was restricted when American Colonists had to use British vessels. Smuggling was a big problem during this leading to colonist wanting independence.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    British issued this tax on to legal/commercial documents. Pamphlets, diplomas, playing cards and more were examples.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    On King Street in Boston a fight between a colonist and British soldier broke out. This lead to multiple colonist being dead. British soldiers opened fire onto crowd of protestors.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This tax cut out the middleman to make the tea cheaper. The colonist didn’t like this and it lead to the Boston Tea Party.

    A political protest from the Tea Act. The Sons of Liberty dumped over 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. King George III passed the Coercive act in retaliation to this.

    Punishment of 4 acts in Massachusetts following the Boston Tea Party. Colonist has to house the British on demand.

    A meeting of all colonies except Georgia. It was a response to the Intolerable Act passed by British Parliament. This leads to a boycott.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concorde

    Battle of Lexington and Concorde
    The battle started the American revolutionary war. It was the result of tensions between the colonies and the British. In Lexington 700 British troops fight against 77 militiamen. There is no word on who fired first but resulting in 8 militiamen being dead. In concord the British fired first in the colonist return fire. This was known as “the shot heard around the world”.

    This was the governing body of colonies found when the British didn’t respond to the first continental congress.
  • Declaration of independence adopted

    Declaration of independence adopted
    This was the first formal statement in the official declaration of the colonies had served ties with the mother country of Britain this was by Thomas Jefferson. The document summarizes the colonist motives for the revolution it was a founding document of the United States government.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This occur during the second year of the American Revolution it was a battle between Freemans Farm and Bemis Heights. In the battles resulted from these who won the French support in the colonist war effort.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Winter at Valley Forge
    This was a six month encampment that was the turning point of the war. George Washington fought to win with his drained army.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Branch in Continental troops in circle the British army led by General Comwallis with the help of the French Navy. Peace talks began after the British lost in a fight he continued into 1783.
  • US constitution written

    US constitution written
    The writing of the constitution was there in the Philadelphia convention now known as the constitutional convention. When the war had failed articles of the confederation, the leaders met and wrote the constitution. This established a fundamental laws in the basic rights for citizens.

    US constitution adopted
    After New Hampshire was the ninth state to ratify the constitution the constitution officially was adopted and it became a law.
