    After a vote from Czechoslovakia, Hitler moved his troops into Czechoslovakia, and it became apart of Nazi Germany, this is important because this attempt to take more land would be soon wide spread.

    After taking land in their immediate vicinity, Hitler began making plans for taking Poland, as Poland was hated for spiting Germany into two areas. This is important because a declaration of war from France and Great Britain were declared on Germany.

    After failure with trying to appease Hitler, among other things Neville Chamberlain stepped down from power, and Winston Churchill becomes Prime Minister, this is important as Churchill has a very different opinion of the war and leads the UK to victory.

    After Poland fell to the joint German-Russian force Hitler went to attack France, to do this Germany went around taking the smaller countries as a route to France as the Allies pushed in to stop the German offensive, Germany punched multiple tank divisions through the southern flank of the Allies later known as Blitzkrieg trapping ally soldiers at Dunkirk, and after most of the French military was gone, France fell. This is important as this proved the military power of Germany.

    After signing a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union two years before, Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. This was done due to Hitler's ideological goal from the beginning, lebensraum, or living space, Hitler believed that he needed all of Russia's land to hold his growing German population, while also believing that there were many lesser races that needed to be removed. This is important because Russia's entry to the war is a big help for the Allies.

    After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States navy was not able to stop Japanese expansion in the Pacific, however, after figuring out the Japanese code, the Americans knew that an attack on Midway was coming, and this advantage stopped the Japanese momentum, destroying 4 aircraft carriers, which was the main force in the navy, this is important as at this point forward, the Japanese would be on the defensive, it was a major turning point.

    This was the first counteroffensive done by the Allies on the mainland of Europe, Sicily was chosen because it was the weakest flank, being held by Italy. This was important because it started relieving stress off of the Soviet Union, although they wanted an attack from France.

    The invasion of D-Day took years of planning to pull off, about 156,000 troops were landed across the northern coast of France, these included French, British, American, and Canadian troops. It was a massive assault with great casualties. This however eventually liberated France. This is important because with the US help, relations between France, Great Britain, and the US were growing closer together, and this relationship would make a major impact with things like the creation of NATO

    Around this time, Hitler and his wife both take their own lives with cyanide pills and a shot to the head, this was major news because it marked the near end of WW2, on the European front.

    After the Japanese government declared that they would agree to the terms they were given, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur accepted Japan’s formal surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This is important cause after 6 years of fighting people get to return to their families. Germany was also split up into 4 territories and Japan was occupied by the US for multiple years.
