The Common School Movement
The Common School Movement was an effort to provide all children with free education, no matter what their social background was. Horace Mann, who is known as the founder of the movement, was even elected to the Massachusetts' Board of Education in 1837.

This Act's purpose was to grant each and every child a fair and equal opportunity for a quality education. It was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002.
