Victoria - Ballarat
In august 1851 Thomas Hiscock found gold in Buninyong which is south of Ballarat. In 1852 gold had been found in Ballarat, Victoria's population went up by 20,000 more miners. In 1864 Ballarat had 300 mines and 64,000 miners. -
Tasmania - Fingal
The first discovery in Tasmania was in 1859 on the East Coast in Fingal. -
Queensland - Mount Morgan
In 1860, there was a gold discovery at Mount Morgan which is near Rockhampton. During this time, Mount Morgan was one of the richest mines in the world. -
South Australia - Teetulpa
In 1866 in South Australia, Teetulpa, gold was discovered by Thomas Brady and Thomas Smith. The conditions were hard as it was hot and dusty. -
Queensland - Gympie
In 1867, John Nash discovered gold in Gympie. After the recent discovery, 25,000 miners relocated back to Gympie in hope of finding gold. -
Northern Territory - Pine Creek
In 1871, construction workers building an overland telegraphy in Darwin, found gold by accident. -
Queensland - Palmer River
In 1877, at Palmer River there was a gold discovery after all the hard work in the hot and humid conditions. Miners were bit by insects and snakes. -
Western Australia - Coolgardie
In 1892, Arthur Bayley and Williams Flat found gold near a waterhole near Coolgardie. Gold is still being mined in Western Australia. -
Western Australia - Kalgoorlie
In 1893, Addy Hannon, Dan Shea and Tom Flanagan 40km east of Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie. -
North Territory - Tennant Creek
In 1895, at Tennant Creek the gold was originally found in 1895, but mining didn't really begin until 1932. -
Tasmania - Beconsfield
In 1905, there was a gold discovered in Beconsfield. The gold was worth 77,2671 pounds.
