    George Washington was born in Westmoreland County,Virginia on the date February 22, 1732.
  • House of Burgesses

    House of Burgesses
    Washington served in the Virginia House of Burgesses. He served 15 years before American Revolution. Then he ran in 1758 and won and represented Frederick County until 1761.
  • Education

    George Washington was believed to finish formal schooling around 15 years old.He showed an aptitude for mathematics. Then he went on to become a successful surveyor
  • Surveying

    When George's brother Lawrence died off Tuberculosis, George took over Washington lands. Then when Lawrence's only child, Sarah died, George took over one of the most prominent estates, Mount Vernon. He was 20 at the time. He increased his landholdings in Mount Vernon to about 8,000 acres.

    After a full day of siege Washington surrendered and was soon released back to Williamsburg, promised not to build another fort. He received thanks. Given honorary rank of colonel and joined general Braddock's army in Virginia in 1755. At 1755 Washington was named commander of all Virginia troops at age 23. Then the British captured the French Fort and they won.

    George married Martha Dandridge Custis who was a few months older than George. She brought a huge fortune, a 18,000 acre estate. Jacky and Patsy were children of Martha and George had great affection for the both of them.

Then he went across the Delaware river again and in a strong position along the Assunpink creek they waited for the arrival of the British.It was not pretty for the British. Washington got the victory.

    He had the soldiers in his army inoculated against smallpox using the technique called variolation. Then later in the encampment at Valley Forge he had the whole army inoculated. Death of smallpox dropped from 17%- 1%, a huge reduction.

    George Washington took oath to become president on April 30, 1789. he became the first president to serve our nation.

    When Washington longed to retire back to mount vernon. But he saw that the Nation under the Articles of Confederation was not working well. He became a prime mover toward the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia in 1787. When the new Constitution was ratified, congress elected him as president.

    After his second term Washington went back to mount vernon. He was a planter and planted a lot of different things. He soled wheatflour, corn meal, and later whiskey to local and foreign merchants.
  • Death

    Washington died in 1799. He died at age 67. And he died in mount vernon
