    British Parliament passes Sugar act which taxed daily goods within the colonies in hopes they can pay off war debt.
  • First Colonist tax complains

    Town meeting is held in Boston in which grievances related to new taxes are discussed.
  • Stamp Act

    First DIRECT tax on colonies. Britain is still in debt from war
  • Quartering Act

    The act requires colonist to provide housing for soldiers stationed within colonies.
  • Ben Franklin opens up to Parliament

    Ben Franklin warns British Parliament that if military is used to enforce the Stamp Act there could be conflict.
  • Declaratory Act

    Stamp act is repealed yet Declaratory Act is passed giving Britain power to enforce any laws within the colonies with ought restriction.

  • Boston Massacre

    Within a riot 5 colonist were shot dead by English troops, this fuels revolutionary fire in Boston as well as all the colonies
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act is in effect and enforces import tax and the ability for tea companies to undersell to colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    In protest of the tea act, Boston colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians and tossed tea into the harbor off of a ship.
