They were fought on April 19th in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Menotomy, Lincoln, and Cambridge. The Patriots retreated from Lexington after the "shot heard round the world" resulted in eight Patriot deaths and only one British casualty. The Patriots fell back to Concord, where the British were ambushed. The British then marched back to Boston. #shotheardroundtheworld

The colonists sieged the port city of Boston, where the British were occupying. The colonists, arguably against orders, set up on Breed's Hill. The British, aware of these fortifications, then fired upon the colonists. The British won the battle, but suffered much more casualties than the Patriots. #otherhill

    The Battle of Saratoga was a primary turning point in the Americna Revolution and decided the fate of British General John Burgoyne's army. There were two battles in the Battle of Saratoga and they were fought 18 days apart on the same land. John Burgoyne was defeated at the second battle, known as the Battle of Bemis Heights, by the American Continental Army. The Patriot leader was General Horario Gates, however the first battle was led by Benedict Arnold. #turnaround

The conditions at Valley Forge were very tough and hard to survive the winter. Although constructed huts provided shelter, they did little to defend against the food shortages that plagued the Army. As the climate grew warmer, the conditions became better. Many wives and children of the soldiers came to help the Army get through Valley Forge. #hardwinter

However, the Articles of Confederation were like a 3 legged stool, and was eventually replaced. #failure

This was the last major battle of the American Revolution and the result was the American control of New York City. This prompted the British government's negotiations to end the conflict. The French blocked naval support and escape and as a result the British occupation was surrounded. Over 7,000 soldiers were captured. #thelastone

    The Treaty of Paris of 1783 was the treaty that ended the American Revolutionary War that ended the war between Great Britain and America and their allies. This treaty was the official treaty between Britain and America. Treaties between Spain, France, Britain, and the Netherlands were separate. Negotiations for this treaty began in April of 1782 involving American representatives like Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. The document was signed at the Hotel d'York. #endthewar
