Fort Sumter
Lincoln notified Jefferson Davis (President of the Confederate States of America) that he was sending supplies to the fort.
On April 12, Confederate batteries opened fire on the fort, which was unable to reply effectively.
The fire on Fort Sumter led to The Civil War.
