    On this day, Hitler announced that he will be recontructing the military. He says that this is a defensive act. He goes on to say that if anyone decides to go to war, there will be serious problems.

    Hitler's Second Saturday Surprise
    Hitler ordered troops to occupy the Rhineland. This was a portion of land that divided Germany, and France. The Treaty of Versailles protected this area, but Hitler sent troops in anyway.

  • Hitler Meets with Schuschnigg

    Hitler Meets with Schuschnigg
    Since there were a large amount of Germans in Austria, Hitler believed that Austria should be part of Germany. Hitler met with the prime minister, Kurt von Schuschnigg for a meeting. Schuschnigg said no, so Hitler gave him some time to change his mind. Hitler then sent in troops to occupy Austria, and when the vote was taken, nearly all people approved.

    This is the day when France, Italy, and Britain agreed to let Hitler take the Sudetenland.

  • Germans Occupy Poland

    The Germans set up a scenario, in which they dress Polish inmates from Gleiwitz in Polish army uniforms, and kill them. The SS say that the Polish attacked Gleitwitz.

    Hitler Divides Poland
    Hitler divided up Poland into parts of Germany(Warthegau) and then called the rest the General Government of Poland. In order to make Warthegau more Aryan, they deported Jews, Gypsies, and Poles to the General Government area.

  • The February Strike

    In the Netherlands, people to a stand against the Nazis. This was a reaction to the Nazis trying to deport 400 Jews. It lasted for 3 days, but right after the Nazis started to deport Jews to death camps.

  • Nazis Invade Russia

    Hitler orders the invasion of Russia to kill "enemies of the state". These type of people were mostly "Jewish-Bolsheviks". Jewish-Bolsheviks are basically Jewish people who support communism.

    The USA declares war on Japan. This is due to the fact that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor the day before. This led to the USA, Britain, and the Soviet Union, all to go against Germanty.
