    On August 9th, 1757 Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton is born in Albany, New York. She was her parents, Philip and Catherine Schuyler’s second daughter. Seven of her sibiligs made it to adulthood, although she had fourteen in total.

    Marries Alexander
    On December 14th, 1780 Elizabeth Schuyler gets married to Alexander Hamilton. Alexander was one of General George Washington’s aides-de-camp, he got Phillip’s blessing because he thought the boy was intelligent and well mannered. They were married at the Schuyler Mansion.

    On January 22nd 1782 Eliza had her first child. He was named Phillip, after Elizabeth’s father. He was the first of eight children

    In the summer of 1791 Alexander had an affair with a woman named Maria Reynolds. He paid her husband not to tell the puplic, but eventually admitted it himself in 1796 in The Reynolds Pamphlet. After time, Elizabeth forgave him.

    Philip, Elizabeth and Alexander’s first child is killed. He is killed in a duel against a man named George Eacker.

    Alexander Hamilton dies in a duel against a man named Aaron Burr. The two had been basically enimies for a very long time. The bullet went into his lower abdomen, and he died the next day.

    In 1806 Eliza opens an orphanage, The New York Orphan Asylum Society. She does this because of Alexander, who was an orphan. She helped to raise hundreds of children.

    Angelica Schuyler dies at the age of 58. She was Elizabeth’s older sister and helped her though the death of Alexander. Angelica is buried near Alexander.
  • The Hamilton-Holly House

    The Hamilton-Holly House
    In November of 1833 Elizabeth sold her 25 acre home called The Grange. She bought a New York townhouse with the money, that is now called the Hamilton-Holly House. She lived there with Alexander Hamilton Jr. and Eliza Hamilton Holly with their spouses.

    In 1848 Elizabeth moves to D.C. She lives with her widowed daughter, Eliza Hamilton Holly. She is around 90 years old.

    On July 4th 1848 a ceremony for the Washington Monument is held. Earlier in her life Elizabeth had raised money to build it. She attended the ceremony.

    Eliza died in Washington D.C. at 97. She was buried at Trinity Church in New York City. This is also where Angelica and Alexander are buried.
