  • Universal Preschool Idea

    Infant School Society of Boston put a petition in to be included in the Boston Public Schools.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    Ensuring education for all and/or altering environments of education. Civil Rights Act, protects constitutional rights of individuals in public facilities.. Education rights are now called Equal Opportunity in Education Art.
  • Economic Opportunity Act (EOA)

    promotion of the health, education, and general welfare of the low economical status.
  • Start of Headstart/ Elementary and Secondary Education Act(ESEA)

    Headstart later updated in 1981, (ESEA) provides monies to help low income families and is based on children's eligibility for free or reduced priced school lunches. Also for academic funds as well as learning opportunities.
  • Education of All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)

    passed by congress and mandated that in order to receive federal funds, states must develop policies for free appraise education.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

    provides equality education for all of the country's children. IDEA reauthorized in 1997 and 2004.
  • Theory of Psychosocial Development

    Erik Erikson developed this theory based on the idea that the cognitive and social development occur hand in hand and cannot be separated.
  • Ecological Theory

    Urie Bronfenbrenner's theory looks at children's development within the context of the systems of relationships that form their environment. there are 5 systems that compose of his theory. Microsystem, Mesosystem, Ecosystem, Macrosystem, and Chronosystem.
