    Smartphones were being developed in the last 1990's and the first PDA phone was made in 1999. It wasn't until 2007 when Apple released their smart phone the IPhone. Ever since they have been making advancements to have things such as social media with these phones and can be sent and received across the world.
  • Creation of Facebook

    At this time, Mark Zuckerburg created a social media website in order for him and his classmates to keep in contact with one another. Today over 1 billion people use Facebook and is the biggest social media platform in the world.
  • Creation of Twitter

    Creation of Twitter
    Twitter was created by a group of people that launched in 2006. In 2012 it had over 100 million users and is used to send sound bites of information. Users can find information searching for hashtags.
  • Maldova Twitter Revlolution

    Maldova Twitter Revlolution
    10,000 people came to protest against Maldovas leadership meeting in which they damaged many government buildings. They did this using text messaging, Facebook and Twitter to gather people together for these riots. They also used a twitter hashtag to relay information back and forth and personal texting to get more of their friends to participate.
  • Iran Green Revolution

    Iran Green Revolution
    Protesters assembled to demand the removal of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Just like some of the other protests they used twitter and hashtags to assemble together. Twitter didn't start these revolutions but it gave people realtime updates on what is happening and where. It gives protesters way to communicate to a vast audience without the government being able to 100% stop it unless they remove twitter or other social media from the nation.

    This started because of the flawed government that was making far to much money than the rest of the population. Facebook was the primary way that they used it to organize and spread the word about protests. They would show images of little children being harmed and the pictures were graphic. This helped caused some uprising and they also used it to tell when are where the rallies were being held.

    Snapchat was created in 2011 when two students from Stanford wanted a way to send pictures back and forth that disappeared after 10 seconds. Thus snapchat was born. People around the world can send pictures or videos that can be viewed instantly to the receiver. Stories can also be seen by anyone for a 24 hour period of time.

    Rallies started because the government was trying to move the nation closer to Russia rather than the European Union. They used the slogan "A will to change life in Ukraine" Twitter was the main form of communication with the protesters in these rallies. They used hashtags to communicate amongst themselves and to relay information to others.

    Players have been protesting the National Anthem for the past year because of inequality felt in this nation. Many have reached out over social media explaining their reasoning behind it and just recently players in Berlin have also started doing the same thing.
