    Daniel Clement Dennett was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 28, 1942. He recieved his B.A in Philosophy from Harvard in 1963 (Tikkanen, 2020) He is well known for being a philosopher of the mind.

    Daniel Dennett's first book was published. "Content and Consciousness". This book was the first of many explaining how the brain interprets what we see.This book laid out the frame work that he would build off of in later books. It was one of the first books that explained the connection between the mind and consciousness.

    Daniel Dennett has written 12 books thus far. He is well known for his books and scientific research in philosophy of the mind. He also has written books about biological evolution, artificial inelegance and religion. He is also influential in new atheism.
  • Consciousness explained (Part 1)

    In January of 1991, Dennett wrote what is probably his best known book, "Consciousness explained".In this book he explains "how consciousness arises from interaction of physical and cognitive processes in the brain." (Dennett, 1991)
  • Consciousness explained (Part 2)

    By the time Dennett wrote this book. Many advances in the field of cognative science had been made. He goes against the most commonly accepted theory of consciousness, "The Commonsense Theory", and proposes his own theory of consciousness.
