    Daniel was born on March 28, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. His parents were Daniel Clement Dennett Jr. and Ruth Marjorie. He spent the start of his life in Lebanon because of his fathers work.

    Daniel received his Bachelors of Arts in philosophy from Harvard University in 1963 and two years later in 1965 he got his PH.D from Hertford College while studying under Gilbert Ryle.

    In 1978 Dennett released his book "Brainstorms". It is a collection of 17 articles about cognitive sciences. Some of the topics he goes over are 'Are dreams experiences?', 'Artificial intelligence as philosophy and as psychology-- part three', and 'Mechanism and responsibility'. The book goes over consciousness and free will. He wanted psychologists, linguists, and computer scientists to work together.

    Some would say that this is Daniel's greatest work, 'Darwin's Dangerous Idea'. This book talks about Darwin's works with evolution, natural selection, and adaption and addresses the challengers of his, Darwin, ideas. Dennett did such a great job describing Darwin's work and expanding it that the work went on to win the 1995 National Book Award for non- fiction, and also the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for General non- fiction.

    Titles and Honors
    Writing 53 books, countless papers, and doing an uncountable amount of hours doing research has earned Daniel a numerous amount of awards. He has earned Fellowships from Fulbright, Guggenheim and others. In 2004 he received the Humanist of the Year award. 2010 he was listed on the Honorary Board of distinguished achievers by the Freedom from Religion Foundation and awarded the Erasmus Prize for his non- stop effort in translation.
