The beginning of the book starts out with Ravi Chandra. Ravi is desperate for money, so he is now hired by a terrorist group that wants to disable the Jowada plant. They picked him for his resources with being able to enter the main reactor chamber room. When he gets inside the room he has to plant a C-4 charge on one of the main water pipes that keeps the reactor under control. -

After Ravi got into the plant, he went to the main generator room fuze box and cut the switch to all the safey systems. Ravi then went to the pipe that i described earlier and set his tool box( containing the C-4) next to it. Revi then pressed the button to start the blast timer on the C-4. The terrorist group lied to Ravi and the bomb went off when he pressed the button. Unfortunitly, Ravi dies and the power plant is evacuated with the town. -

We now get introduced to Alex Rider the Main charicter in the story. He is on his way to a party in Scotland whith his girlfriend(Sabina Pleasure) and her dad(Edward Pleasure). Edward is a Journalist. They are talking about Desmond McCain, Edward's next journal story in the Car on their way to the New Years Eve party set up by Desmond McCain. -

After Alex is done talking to Mr. pleasure, Alex arives at the party with him and Sabina. Alex and Sabena eventually get tired at the party and want to go home. They then split up to find her dad. As Alex is looking he walks into a room and gets convinced into playing a poker game with Desmond McCain. Alex beats him at the Texas Hold'Em poker game and wins $25,000, but feels selfish and gives the money to Desmond for his charity for children in Africa. -

After Alex's itroduction to Desmond at the poker game, Alex continues his search for Sabina's father. After Alex finds Sabina's father, he thinks they should go home as well because Sabinas mom is still sick and not feeling any better. Alex, Sabina,and her father, Edward, leave the party and start there journey. When sudddenly, on there way back down from the mountain, the car looses controll and the group crash and plundge in to the lake below. -

Luckily Sabina is allright. -

After Alex Sabina, and Edward crash into the loch and have been struggling for a way out, Alex finds it. He takes Sabina's Dad's duckhead walking stick, breakes it to make a club, and breaks the window out. Alex then rescues Edward, who has gone unconcious, and brings him back to the serface. Meanwhile, Sabinas swims back up to the serface and they are all rescued by a delevary man who saved them from the cold of the night. -

After words were exchanged a fight broke out between them and Alex. After Alex beat them he then returned home to Jack. -

Alex then went to MI6 for help and they litterally wiped Herold off the world for the morning. They canceled all his cards, and stole his car. -

They also cancelled his cell phone service, had the news papers make and article of how he was killed, and even changed his identity to a person who was in prison, escaped and killed him in his fake death. HE then got arrested and almost sent to prison. He litterely became an invisible man. -

After the Journalists life being twisted infront of his eyes, he arranged a meating with Desmond McCain. McCain then shot him. After this encounter he kidnapped Alex and took him into the african jungle as revenge after Alex spied on him and what he was secretly doing in his charity. Alex is interogated by mcCain and then is rescued by the samre man who helped recue them from the Loch. Alex is now going to blow up the dam to spoil McCains plan.
