    Dantes is still young, jovial, and excited to see his friends and family back at home. At this point in the story we are introduced to Dantes as well as the other characters and get a slight feel of what they are like

  • Dantes is imprisoned

    Dantes was arrested during the feast, and was imprisoned thanks to Caderousse, Fernand, Danglars, and the self-righteous Villlefort. Dantes is confused, yet still innocent and hopeful of a bright future.
  • Dantes meets Abbe Faria

    After 6 years in prison, Abbe Faria gets to Dantes' cell through the tunnel that he's worked on for five years. The two bond, and over the years, the abbe teaches Dantes a great many things, such as math, language, and philosophy. Abbe Faria also instills vengeance in Dantes' heart, and it is during his time in prison that he becomes bitter and lustful for revenge.
  • Dantes escapes prison

    Dantes escaped prison after spending fourteen unfair years in he Chateau d'If. He discovers the treasure that Abbe Faria had promised him, and he meets Jacopo, who becomes the captain of his yacht. Dantes then sets out to find his enemies.
  • The Count goes to Marseilles

    The Count travels to Marseilles to find out what became of those he'd once held near to his heart, only to discover that Mercedes married Fernand, Danglars became very rich, Villefort had become influential and Fernand had gained military glory. Dantes is very bitter and confused as to why men that did such evil have been rewarded so greatly, making him even more thirsty for vengeance.
  • Dantes' revenge

    Around this time, Dantes' plans had begun to fall together. All of those who'd been his enemies were ruined, yet he began to feel like he'd taken a step too far after Madame de Villefort took both her own life as well as her son's. The Count realizes that he is not the bringer of Providence, and that it is God's job to execute justice, not man's.
  • Dantes and Haydee begin a new life

    October 5 was the date that Dantes had promised Maximilien that he would restore the happiness when he lost Valentine. Right before Maximilien is about to take his own life, The Count brings back Valentine. The two reuinite, and later get a letter from Dantes revealing that he'd left them a large sum of money and had left for France with Haydee so the two could begin a new life together. Dantes had given up all acts of vengeance and had become to re-acquire bits and pieces of his former self.
