  • Iron Curtain Speech

    Winston Churchill delivers the speech in the United states. He is concerned about Soviet aggression in Eastern Europe. The Iron Curtain is the division between Capitalist Western Europe and Communist Eastern Europe. He wanted America to take a bier role in Soviet aggression.
  • Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine was an American foreign policy which presented a purpose to counter the Soviet geopolitical expansion during the Cold War. President Truman stated that the United States would go to whatever lengths possible to restrain the spread of communism and stop the Soviet Union.
  • Berlin Blockade

    The Berlin Blockade was one of the first major international crisis of the Cold war. The Soviets Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin. This was caused by Stalin wanting to take over eastern Europe. While the US acquired the Truman Doctrine.
  • Marshall plan

    The Marshall plan was a plan by the US to help Western Europe's Economy. The US would provide 12 billion dollars to help rebuild Europe's economy after the destruction World War 2. This plan was presented by George C. Marshall.
  • Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift involved the US helping Berlin. The Soviet Union Blockade isolated Berlin which caused Berlin to run out of resources for survival. To help that cause the US and British pilots began to deliver food and helpful resources to Berlin by plane.
  • NATO

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an intergovernmental military alliance between 29 North American and European countries. The main purpose was to defend each other from the possibility of communist Soviet Union taking control of their nation.
  • Communists take over China

    The struggle for control over China varied between Nationalist and Communists. The communist ended up taking over by Mao who proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China.
  • Korean War

    The Korean war consisted conflict between communist and democratic. The United Nations, and communist Democratic People's Republic of Korea were trying to end he spread of communism which caused them to invade south Korea.
  • Vietnam War

    This whole war started when China became communist and was in charge of North Vietnam. The US was afraid of communism spreading to South Vietnam and Asia. In addition the US allied with South Vietnam by sending them helpful resources along with Asia. This the US didn't do this communism would have spread and they would have been a major threat to the US.
  • Revolt in Hungary

    The Revolt in Hungary was a nationwide revolution against Hungarian people’s republic and the soviets imposed policies. The spread of true revolt went quickly which caused their government to collapse.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik 1 was the first artificial Earth satellite launched by the Soviet Union. This alarmed the US because the Soviet Union was ahead in technology and thought they were more superior. Later on this caused a space race which the United States won.
  • Great Leap Foward

    The Great Leap Forward took place after the result of successful economic reconstruction recovery under the five year plan. The party leadership, Mao Zedong, thought the conditions were ripe for the great leap forward which led to the failure of the Great Leap Forward. In addition was caused by lack of planning by the Chinese government.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    This event involves conflict between USSR, Cuba and United States. The Soviet Union began to build missile sites on Cuba. The United States established a blockade around the Cuba to prevent any other weapons from entering Cuba. JFK made a compromise to end this war to prevent Nuclear war. This was the closest we came to Nuclear War.
  • Cultural Revolution

    From the result after The Great Leap Forward, Mao Zedong extracted from the active rule and left from Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping to guide the economy to recovery. This caused a major problem with the peoples republic. In conclusion the Cultural revolution was abandoned.
  • Revolt in Czechoslovakia

    The Soviet Union led Warsaw Pact troops to invade Czechoslovakia to crack down on reformist trends in Prague. The Soviet Union's action successfully stopped the process of reform in Czechoslovakia. In addition this caused consequences for the unity of the communist bloc. The troops from Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, East Germany, and Poland occupied Czechoslovakia
  • Apollo Program

    The Apollo program was made to land people on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. In conclusion the Apollo mission was canceled for many reasons: changes in technical direction, the Apollo 1 fire, hardware delays, and budget limitations.
