  • HUAC

    The House Commitee on Un-American Activities. This took place in 1938-1958. This was a organization so that certain people, mostly communists, could not show their movies, work, and do certain things. This was called backlist.
  • The Red Scare

    The Red Scare was a time where everyone feared that communists were working to destroy the American way of life.

    In 1940 and 1950, the read scare accoured. It was where everyone feared that communists were working to destroy the American way of life and start a war. The emergence of the Soviet Union as a communist nation, which began in 1917, fed these fears.
  • Yalta Confrence

    The Big Three agreed that Poland, Bulgria, and Romania would free elections. However, Stalin later reheged on this promise. This was very important in U.S History because if this caused us to finally have free elsections.
  • Rosenburgs

    Rosenburgs were a couple that was accused of being a communist spy. They were put on trial and was found guilty. They later were excuuted.
  • Creation of the U.N.

    United Nations moved away from colonism. The U.N also issued the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • Postdam Confrence

    Truman learned of the successful test iof the atomic bomb, At the meeting, the Big Three formalized the decision to divide Germany into four zones of occupation : Solviet, American, French, and British. This caused alot of drama and made alot of people move.
  • The Truman Doctine

    President Truman addressed both houses of Congress. Truman promised to aid nations struggling against communist movements became known as the Truman Doctrine. This was a good thing for the aided nations.
  • The Marshall Plan

    In early 1948, Congress approved the Marshall Plan. This was a program that provided food to reduce famine fuel, heat to houses and factories, and gave money to jump-start growth. This helped people survive and from going to being less fourtionate.
  • NATO

    The NATO provided the Military alliance to counter Soviet expansions. They were very thankful for NATO because they would not have made it without their help or support.
  • the beginning of the Korean War

    June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into soviet ( North Korea ) and the U.S. ( South Korea )zones of occupation. They fought and they moved the 38 parallel line closer to the one who was loosing the war so that the side who was winning had more space in their part. The line was moved back and forth several times. Eventually, the line was back to where it started after both sides realized that noone was going to officially win the fight.
  • Hollywood Ten

    Hollywood Ten was a film directed by John Berry. He became blacklisted; He could not show this movie mainly because it was against blacklisting and had names of all the people who were blacklisted. If you were blacklisted, you either had to change your identity or confess you was communist and you have changed. If not, you would be stuck with no job, no career, and a hard life.
  • Creation of tht Warsaw Pact

    All the communist states of Eastern Europe except for Yugoslavia were members. They pledge to defend one another if attacked. This was good on their part. The other states did not expect this.

    The nuclear race was a race where whoever has the most , strongest wapons.
  • The Baby Boom

    The Baby Boom was a time period were the soldiers got to come home. Shortly after their return home, many babies started to pop up. More and more every day. There was not enough room in schools, hospitals, and they were running out of baby supplies in stores. With this happening, they had to make more schools, hospitals and stores.
