    The Truman Doctrate was a policy that presidwent Harry Truman signed. It stated that in order for Greece and Turkey to avoid joining the Communist, the United States would support them with military and financial aid.

    A military campaign launched by the Viet Cong and North Vietnam to use against South Vietnam. They attacked the command and communication centers of South Korea by surprise. In the end it didn't work because the North ended up with a tactial victory with the help of the United States

    A nuclear accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine which was under the supervision of the authorities of the Soviet Union. An explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive particles, causing damages and spreading to the western USSR and Europe.

    A huge student-led protest in Beijing where they demanded social equality. THey wated freedom of press, speech, socialism, and democracy. The result ended in a few changes but not very successful.
