  • First shots fired at Ft.Sumter

    This was the battle that started the civil war. Confederates attacked the Union fort that was in the south. Confederates won the battle.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    Before the battle had happened, Americans thought the war would end quickly. Union’s plan was to attack Richmond (Capital of the Confederates). Confederates won the battle and made Americans realise that the war was going to take longer than expected.
  • Battle of Antieum

    Confederates attacked to get maryland on their side and European nations to support Confederates, Confederates were the ones to retreat, but people say no one really won because of the death count on both sides.This battle was the bloodiest battle in the Civil War.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    The Battle of Vicksburg was the first battle in which the african americans fought alongside the Union, Vicksburg was controlled by the Confederacy, so many ships snuck behind the Confederacy and attacked. Many of the African-American soldiers protested for equal pay, it was later granted.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The Battle of Gettysburg lasted 3 days, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of July, 1863. More men died here than any other battle. This was the turning point of the war, and the Union started to win. The Confederacy attacked for the last time, Gettysburg was the fathest north they got.
  • Battle of Ft.Wagner

    Union successfully won the battle at Ft. Wagner.Eventually, due to the water poisoning the Confederacy fled. Later some drunken soldiers set afire on the gunpowder that was left out by the Confederacy almost 350 men died that day because of the explosion.
  • Battle of Petersburg

    When the Union and Confederacy were fighting, they fought for 9 months. The place the Confederacy was defending, was Richmond. Eventually, the Union won, and they were setting the whole city on fire until the Confederacy fled. They fought from June 9, 1864, to March 25, 1865.
  • Battle of Atlanta

    The Battle of Atlanta was during the Civil War on July 22, 1884. Sherman decides to break all the battle rules and attacks with total war. He and his men, also, attacked everything, to destroy the Confederate’s spirits and get rid of all their supplies. They burned everything they saw, ate all the food they saw, and raped people all over town. Later, they burned Hampton, Virginia, and then Richmond, this was the end of the Civil War.
  • Appomattox Court House

    Appomattox was the town where General Lee surrendered. Union agreed, but had conditions for the Confederates. 1st: Confederates could go home if they promised to stop fighting. 2nd: They could take their own mules and horses(to feed themselves). 3rd: Officers could take there weapons. Confederacy accepted the conditions. General Grant sent food to starving Confederate soldiers
