    Rosa parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man. later she said its because she was tired not beacuase her feet were tired but because she was tired of the abuse towards blacks.
  • Montgomery bus boycott

    Because of what happend to rosa parks 95 percent of black citizens who rode the bus decided to boycott. 65 percent of all frequent bus riders were black.
  • Governor Farbus brings national gaurd to stop blacks from entering white school

    The governor brought the national gaurd to stop the little rock nine from entering a white school. The south was disobening the new laws.

    Black students were denied service at a diner so they decided not to leave. every day more and more students going there peers.

    The freedom riders were on there way to the deep south to protest jim crow laws and call for change.They were met with hatred and violence.

  • MLK writes letter from jail

    Known as the "Negro is your brother" was a letter that planned a non-violent protest against racial segregation by Birmingham's city government and downtown retailers. It was smuggled out of the jail in a toothpaste tube to avoid the jail's guards.
  • Peaceful Demonstrators Attacked in Birmingham-MLK Arrested

    Birmingham police and firefighters ruthlessly attacked civil rights demonstrators. MLK was arrested during the protest.

    Kennedy was fatally shot while riding with his wife Jacqueline in a Presidential motorcade. The the muderer was never found suspects were accused.

    LBJ takes over the Kennedy assosiation. He is sworn in on the air force 1 while on his way back to washington

    A huge riot that lasted 6 days in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. By the time the riot ended, 34 people were killed, 1,032 hurt, and 3,438 arrested.
