  • Education of Darwin

    October 1825 Darwin attends University of Edenborough. His father had hoped he would follow in his footsteps becoming a doctor. Much of his time was spent with his brother. He spent some time with a freed slave named John Edmonstone who taught him taxidermy. Darwin did not enjoy medical school and in 1827 he quit medical school and attended Christs College in Cambridge, where he graduated with a Bachelors of arts degree.
  • Journey on the Beagle

    Charles Darwin spends 5 years sailing around the world on the Beagle. He has the opportunity to study botany, Geology and Zoology. He takes a particular interest in the Galapagos islands and the finches that lived there. The trip had monumental affect on Charles Darwin and after his return he spent the next 20 years working on his Theory of Evolution with the collaboration of fellow naturalist Alfred Wallace.
  • On The Origin of Species

    On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection , a book by Victorian biologist Charles Darwin. Charles Darwin proposes the Theory of Evolution stating that organisms over time develop characteristics to better help them survive by passing these traits along to their offspring. Species that don't develop these traits don't have as many offspring and tend to die off. Eventually all the species will have the successful traits.

    Charles Darwin dies at the age of 73 from heart failure after a three-month decline beginning with an incident rock climbing.
