    End of the French and Indian War
    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. It was signed on Feburary 10, 1763 in Paris, France. This document ended the fighting between the British and the French in North America. This is sigingifant because the French were evicted from North America and Britian gained all of their land.

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was a tax put on the colonists to pay duties on molasses. The act was enacted on April fifth, 1764. This act affected all the colonies. This tax was enacted to ensure that colonists paid taxes on molasses and to stop the smuggling of it.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was put on the colonists which forced them to pay taxes on all printed material. The act was enacted on the 22nd of March,1765. The act came about to help pay the British soilders stationed in North America.

    The American Colonies Act (Declaratory Act)
    The Declaratory Act was Put on the colonies to ensure its power to legislate the colonies. The act was placed on all the colonies in North America on March 18th, 1766. The reason for this act was so that Britain could place any laws it wanted on the colonies, what ever the case.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This is not the exact date of the Twonshend Acts, since they were enacted throughout a range of time, starting in 1767. These acts included the the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act. These are signifcant because these riled up the colonies greatly.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was the murder of five Boston colonists by the hands of British soilders. This occured on the night of March fifth, 1770. A group of colonists threw snowballs and rocks at British soilders guarding the Customs House in Boston. They became nervous and shot five of the colonists.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was an act passed upon the American colonies by Parliament. Contrary to popular belief, this act did not impose any further taxes upon the colonies, but revolutionary leaders believed this to be a ruse in order to win support for current acts. This act is significant because it caused the first revolutionary action in the colonies - the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion among the colonists to make a statement against the taxes opposed on the colonies by England. The Sons of Liberty dressed up as Native Americans and dumped an English shipment of tea overboard. This was important because the king decided to send more troops to America once he realized that the protests were becoming too extreme to let pass by.
  • Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)

    Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)
    This is not the exact date of the Coercive Acts, seeing as no one date can be labeled on the several acts that were lumped together as such. These were imposed upon the colonies in response to the rebellious action at Boston Harbor. The Boston harbor is closed down due to these acts, public meetings were no longer legalized, and the British military forced their presence upon the colonies until the destroyed tea was paid for. This is important because it was the final straw for America.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This is the first battle of the American Revolution. British forces were attempting to destroy colonist supplies, and patriots received word and went to cut them off in battle. It was fought in Middlesex county, in the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy, and Cambridge. This is significant to history because this officially starts off the American Revolution.
