Benny's Timeline

  • A Gremlin enters the world

I was born on May 5, 2004 in Port-au-Prince, Haïti! It was a hard-knock life. I am currently 16 years old.
  • Move to 'Merica...

In October of 2007, me, my mom, and my big sister hopped on a plane to Miami, Florida, where my dad was waiting for us to take us home! The airplane made my ears hurt.

Placed in Gifted + Skipped Grades

Around 1st or 2nd grade, I was placed into Gifted, and every year, I would be skipped to the next grade. This is especially important to me because it was my Gifted teacher that made me love learning. Before then, I couldn't be bothered.
  • Baby Sister??? + New House

On this day, I got a new baby sister. I mind her much at first, but now she's a spoiled brat. On the bright side, we got to move to a new house out of the deal because we needed more space.
  • I visited Haïti again!

It was a shock being back in Haiti and seeing everything from the eyes of someone old enough to understand. Some parts were fun, some parts were... not. Also, we got into a car accident and I got a bloody nose, bruises, and I think I knocked a tooth loose. I learned that in a fight v flight situation, I'm a freeze person, haha.
  • Election of Blond Cheeto

This was the year of the election, during which I felt super tense all the time because I couldn't believe that Trump was a popular candidate. I freaked out once Trump got elected because I was sure all the racists and homophobes and transphobia would crawl out of the woodworks because of him, and guess what? I was right.
  • Jack Kent Cooke Foundation!!

Around September of 2017, I got accepted into the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation after months of applications and interviews! All thanks to my old math teacher, who pushed me to take the SAT, join Duke Tip, and apply for JKCF!
  • First Trip Out of State!

It was my first trip out of Florida (besides to Haiti) to Pennsylvania! I was there for creating my non profit organization. It was a very cool trip, and I got a ton of exercise and sunlight, as well learned a lot of new things and made a bunch of new friends! It was also the first time I realized how much airplanes affect me physically. I nearly passed out because I was in so much pain from the air pressure.
  • The Hell that is High School

Because no. Some parts of high school I like, most of them I don't. School gives me too many reasons to cry.

    Civil Rights Movement #2

This is self explanatory. But at this period of time, it's like a second civil rights movement, and I feel hyped but saddened that we even NEED a second movement. this is a time of civil unrest and it'll quite frankly make history (AGAIN)

    Corona + Online School

I honestly wasn't worried about the coronavirus as much as I should've been, like everyone else, but once school shut down, I was not happy, like at all. Terrible new schooling method, pandemic outside my door, and my mom and dad, both with necessary jobs, are at risk of getting sick. This was a period of distress, no motivation, and the inability to even get out of bed.
