    Democritus

    Democritus
Democritus was born 460 B.C. and died 370 B.C. The atomic theroy Democritus came up with was that all matter consisted of extremely small particals that could not be divided. The experiment he came up with was the atoms in liquids were round and smooth but atoms in soilds were rough.
  • Isaac Newton

    Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton was born in 1643 and died 1727. His theroy was atoms make up the universe and their forces cause things to change in the universe. His experiment was that atoms could move and cause things to move as well.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
John Dalton was born in 1766 and died 1844. John's theroy was elements in compounds always join in the same way. The experiment he came up with was he made wooden shperes to represent the atoms of different elements.
  • J.J. Thomson

    J.J. Thomson
J.J. Thomson was born in 1856 and died in 1940. His theroy of the atomic model was particals had a negative charge because they were attracted to postive charges. J.J. constructed a glass tube with wires inserted at both ends to pass an electric charge producing a flouresent glow.
  • Hantaro Nagaoka

    Hantaro Nagaoka
Hantaro was born in 1865 and died 1903. His theory was that an atom has central nucleus electrons that move in orbits like the rings around Saturn. Hantaro's experiment was he made an incorrect model of an atom.
  • Robert Andrew Millikan

    Robert Andrew Millikan
Robert Millikan was born in 1868 and died the year of 1953.His theory was that their was a charge on a single electron. The experiment Robert came up with was an oli-drop experiment which they used ro measure the charge on an electron.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Ernest Rutherford was born in 1871 and died in 1937. Ernest's theroy was uranium emits fast moving particals that have a postive charge. His experiment was the paths of the positivity charged alpha particals were aimed at the thin gold foil atoms.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
Niels was born is 1885 and died 1962. The theroy he came up with was electons move in spherical orbits at fixed distances from the nucleus. The experiment he did identified the isotope of uranium responsible for slow-neutron fission. (235U)
  • Erwin Schrodinger

    Erwin Schrodinger
Erwin Schrodinger was born in 1887 and died in 1961.His theroy was that electrons are waves. Waves were merely probabilitiy functions. The experiment Erwin came up with was an equation that related to wave function. F stood for frequency, Y stood for wavelength, E stood for energy and MV stood for momentum. Those are symblols in his equation.
  • Ernest Marsden

    Ernest Marsden
Ernest was born in the year of 1889 and died the year of 1970. On his atomic theroy he worked with Ernest Ruthford. Ernest Marsden's contribution was that the mass of an atom was concentrated in one small area. His experiment was the gold foil experiment where he bounced atomic particles off of gold foil.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
James Chadwick was born in the year of 1891 and died the year of 1974. James theroy of the atomic model was that nuclei contain neutrons and positively charged protons. The experiment James did determined that the neutron did exist and that its mass was about 0.1 percent more than the protons mass.
  • Louis de Broglie

    Louis de Broglie
Louis de Broglie was born in 1892 and died 1987. The atomic theroy he came up with was that moving particals like electrons have some properties of waves. Louis de wanted to see if that was true so he did an experiment with wave particals, proving duality was not merely an aderrant behavior of light, but rather was a fundamental principle exhibted by both radation and matter.
  • Aristotle

    Aristotle
Aristotle was born 384 B.C. and died 322 B.C. Aristotle's theory was that all substances were built up from only four elements earth, air, fire, and watrer. The experiment that he did supported the atomic model of matter.
