Uncle Hessie Drove Home Drunk SA Officers
On their way to the cottage they were trapped in a sea of Brownshirts. Uncle Hessie and Gabriella were the only two in the car. 2 drunk SA officers came up to the car and Uncle Hessie offered to drive them home so he could get out of the sea of Brownshirts. -
Gabriella Went To The Bakery
Gabriella went to the Bakery at their cottage to pick up some things that her mom ordered. When she got there the baker said she looked like someone who could be in the parade. Gabriella didn't like it but she got the pastries anyway, then left. -
Gabriella Cut Off Her Braids
After coming home from the bakery Gabriella felt uncomfortable from what the baker said. She didn't want people thinking she looked like a nazi so she cut her long blonde braids off. -
Ulla And Karl Go "Swimming"
When Ulla came home late at night Gabriella was still up. Gabriella smelt the lake on Ulla and she askde why. Ulla said she went swimming with Karl because it was a hot night. Ulla's hair was all wet but her clothes weren't. Gabriella asked why and Ulla said she went in her undergramnets. Later Gabriella went to the washroom to see Ulla's wet undergarments on the rack to dry. but they didn't smell like lake water, they smelt like tap water. -
The Beer Garden
Gabriella, Karl and Ulla went to the beer garden. A boy started singing a song that the Nazis had made popular. Karl joined in along with a bunch of other people. Gabriella was mad, especially because Ulla seemed happy and didn't care that Karl was singing. -
Karl Spitting In Their Basin
Gaby and Rosa stop at Gaby's appartment to pick up some things before they go back to the cottage and Gaby see's Karl's toothbrush. She also see's that he spat in their basin. Gaby realizes this means he was staying here with Ulla while everyone else was at the cottage. -
The Cabaret
Ulla worked at the cabaret as a book keeper.. in the mornings but during the night she sold cigarettes.Rosa and Gaby snook in one night to see her and saw what she had to wear. She wore a slutty outfit and sold cigarettes to the people at the cabaret. -
Heil Hitler
Rosa and Gaby had one sailing to the beach, When they were about to drop the anchor Gaby saw a mom put her naked baby on her shoulder and start yelling "Heil Hitler". Rosa and Gaby quickly sailed away from the beach. -
Saluting Hitler
After winter break Gaby returns to school. Her teacher has changed remarkably. She now wears a swastika pin on her clothes and Slutes Hitler every morning with the class. Gabby included, even though she is against him. -
BDM Girls.
Fraulein Hofstadt, Gaby's teacher invites Gaby, Rosa and 2 other girls over to her house for tea. She asks them if they want to be a BDM. (The girl's division of the Hitler Youth Group) Gaby and Rosa refuse and ever since then their teacher has ignored them and treated them unfairly, like they were Jews. -
Leaving School
After Gaby's old teacher gave her her books back, Gaby's new teacher askes for them. Gaby refused and get's into an argument with her teacher. At the end Gaby insults her teacher and leaves school. She vows to never ever go back, and doesn't. Her dad teaches her at home. -
Ulla's Pregnant.
Ulla has been acting strange and guarded lately. Gaby finds her throwing up and askes her why? It was the second time when Ulla confessed to Gaby that she was pregnant.. Karl and Ulla were planning on getting married. -
The Engagement Party
At Ulla and Karl's Engagement party Ullaa's parents meet Gaby's parents. Karl's parents give Ulla's parents a sighned picture of Hitler. They now know that they are Nazis. -
Burning Books.
Rosa and Gabby watch as the books written by Jews, or have anything to do with Jews get burned. -
Leaving
To finish the book, Gaby and her fanily leave Berlin.
