The TAriff of 1828 was designed to protect United States industry by increasing tarrifs on goods from Europe. Southern planters was hurting because they depend trade with Europe. They hated it & called it the " Tariff of Abominations." John C. Calhoun that's from South Carolina believes in states rights. South Carolina declared the Tariff by pssing the Nullification Act & threatend to withdraw. Jackson used forces against the states that wants to withdraw from the Union due to the tariff. -
