    Paul Revere's Ride
    The Boston Church shone two lanterns. They signaled the patriots that the "redcoats" (British soldiers) were coming to Concord. Three riders, including Paul Revere, raced off to tell the people along the way.
  • Tge Battles at Lexington and Concord

    Tge Battles at Lexington and Concord
    Seventy armed citizens in Massachusetts (the arm men were called Minutemen) gathered in Lexington. They confronted the "redcoats" as they marched toward Concord. To this day, no one knows who shot first. The result was eight dead minutemen. Then, the British troops went to the North Bridge, but were ambushed. The British retreated to Boston, being attacked along the way from citizens. 250 "redcoats" and 90 patriots were dead or wounded.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress
    Representatives from the 13 colonies formed the Second Continental Congress. They were an emergency government during the war. They authorized a Continental Army and George Washington for the Commander-in-Cheif.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    American militiamen made a dirt fort in Charles Town, Boston. The British started attacking it and Charles Town was set ablazed. The "redcoats" went to attack again, but the Americans were poorly armed. The battle ended when the Americans ran out of gun powder so the British won.

    Control of Quebec

    George Washington ordered cannons to be delivered to Boston. He pointed them towards Quebec where the "redcoats" were. The British fleed their base and the Americans captured Quebec.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    Thomas Jefferson and many other important figures wrote this important document. It's main message was to emphasize it's freedom from Britain and how American would have rules of its own.

    Sothern Loss

    During this time, the British took a military campaign in the southern colonies where many people were against independence. In December 1788, Britain took control of Georgia and the Americans loss many battles at the time.

    Valley Forge, Pennslyvania

    George Washington set up his winter encampment in Valley Forge. Many soldiers died from lack of supplies and weather conditions. Luckily, a German officer named Baron Von Stuebon trained the American troops there.
  • The Last Battle

    The Last Battle
    The British built walls, trenches, and prepared for ballte in Yorktow. Meanwhile, Washington's troop and some French troops marched to Virginia. A couple of French troops attacked fleeing British ships and forced them back. The British were trapped and outnumbered. They surrendured.
  • Official End of the War

    Official End of the War
    The war officially ended when a "The Treaty of Paris" was signed in which Great Britain formally recognized the independence of America.
