    The book was an anti-slavery novel and was the next best seller to the Bible. Uncle Tom's Cabin modivated the abolitionist to fight more and harder for slavery which was a big part of the war.

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    The Kansas-Nebraska Act ended the party of the whigs. While it ended one party the Republican party was started. This party being started was one way that the poltical part of the war was fought.

    Dred Scott Case was a court case the raised the tension between the free and slaved states. This case was a major event that brought slavery to the nations attention.

    Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham used the telegraph and the railroads to get a head of his competition. Lincoln wanted to keep the states a part of the Union and then eventually it had to move to stopping slavery. He created the Emancipation Proclamation in order to have more soldiers and support of people.

    Technology on and off the field

    The long rifle allowed for more accurate and longer shots which was how both the North and the South fought along with that we have the railroads. They transported supplies and soldiers which made it easier for reinforements. The telegraph made communication faster and by becoming faster it made it easier to be ahead of your enemy.

    Clara was a nurse and took care of the North and South soldiers. Her taking care of them was the first time that soldiers had a chance of living after being wounded in battle.

    The battle was a Union victory and Lincoln saw this as a opporunity to get abolitionist back on his side and lead to the creation of the Emancipation Proclamation.

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Proclamation stated "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free (Emancipation)." when the North "took over" the South it would allow them to have more people on their side. Also Lincoln need the abolitionist on his side and this was one way to do that.

    It was a Confederate victory and in this battle Lee used a new military tactic. He attacked the Union from behind and the front which split his army in two. No one had ever split their army in two which led to big changes on the battle field.

    This battle was a Union victory and it was a turning point in the Unions outlook on the war. It gave them the courage and hope to finish the war and win. It was the change that the Union needed while fighting the war.

    The Sherman's March was the destruction of South Carolina and was led by William Sherman. This showed that people fought the war ready to do whatever it took to win and keep their way of life.
