Aim to gain work experience working with Film composers at Electric Mayhem
Prior to taking a TV and Film course at confetti i took a music technology course at confetti and i do imagine myself having something to do with music someday within that industry. i would like to see how film composer's, sound Fx technitians and others work behind the scenes and gain a true insight into how people work in these roles because it may well be me who is composing in film one day or at least a director who is working with the composer to make sure they produce a great soundtrack. -
Create first short film and assist others with the making of theirs
in early 2009 i will return to college and create my first short film for a project as part of the course, this will give me my first taste at making short films and being a director, this expience will be vital in performing many of the tasks and roles that different people do during the film making process, but most vitally it will show me about directing which is where i want to be one day. -
Make indpendant short film
During febuary i hope to create my first short film that will be independant of the college course which will give me more experience in making films and directing people. I have ambitions that this film will be at least marginally bigger than the preceding film i will have made by this time. -
Make first music video
Someday i hope to make music video's for commision, with this i will need experience and i would like to make my first music video by mid-time march 2009 so that i can quickly gain experience from this and use it to produce more music video's of better quality. -
Collaborate with my classmates during college
During my time at college i hope to work with many different people as i will be surrounded by students who are in the same position as me, some of which may have more experience than me in the film industry and film-making process so i hope to collaborate with these people and use the time i have at college to gain as much experience in different roles and seeing how different people work. also this collaboration process may work into a career path with fellow classmates. -
Gain work experience by working on a film set as a runner or trainee
Working on the set of a film will give me industry experience into how professionals work and will help me understand how to make films like them so this will be valuable experience that i can use for my career. Although i intend to contact a film agency as soon as possible to work on the set of a film i feel that they would provide me with the details i need for a future production and 4 months may be a realistic amount of time to wait before the film i will work on will go to production -
Go on to work on third production
During my time at confetti i will have the opportunity to work with others and develop their ideas and mine alike. this will give me two things - 1:experience that i will be able to use in the film industry and later in my carrer alongside a portfolio that i can show to others to help obtain a job and 2: hours of fun making films with friends, so there is no point why i should not make as many as possible whilst at college -
Leave confetti
I had only planned at being at confetti for another year whilst taking this course so that i can get my foot in the door of film making and go to university when i am 18. this will be sad when i say goodbye to confetti but i will need to do it eventually so i will do it in mid 2009 at the end of year 1 of my BND -
Make 2 music video's-one of which for a band i have met through social networking websites
i would like to spend summer 2009 producing or working on as many films as possible but i would like to definately make 2 more music video's and have one of them be with people i do not know personally so i can gain experience in working on commision - doing the job i want to do. -
Go to UNI
since i am interested in music and film i am unclear as to what i would like to do with university but i would definately like to go there and make more films whilst there -
Make a Documentary about life in university
Whilst at uni i would like to make a documentry from the points of view of a poor person and a rich person to show the contrast (if there is any) between the two's experience, i think this will allow me to use my time productively and help me make different types of films -
Produce a film that is worthy of a festivle
Around early 2010 i would like to make a film that is worthy of being played at festivles (not that i would aim any lower for any prior films) and have it played at at least 3 film festivals around the world, funding is optional but if i could accomplish this with limited funding i would be happier with myself -
Submit a small portfolio to record labels and TV companies to get the greatest summer job in the world!
For summer 2010 i would like to work in a job that would have some fit with a future career instead of the usual mc donalds gig (not that i have anything against that). i hope that prior experience and films may provide me with a CV good enough to land a job that works with music video's or within the creative dept of a record label. -
Be in a great band, go on tour, document it, release it
since i was 15 i have been in one band or another (and often more than one) everyday so i hope this trend will continue whilst im at uni (or forever, i really wouldnt mind that), at which point i might be at a stage when i can go on tour with this band and document the experience to create another film to add to my protfolio, most of all this will give me experience with working with people and sincie i want to direct - working with people is a good skill to have -
Gain as much work experience as possible
Since many films are made throughout england every year, it is worthwhile me spending whatever time i can on the set of these films in whatever position simply for experience and networking skills. -
Create a film as a collaborative effort
During the 3 years preceding this i will have (hopefully) met various people who have similiar ideals as me and it would be good to meet with these people and use all of our contacts that we will have gained to aim to obtain funding for and make a feture length film, to be released, i feel as though this could be a stepping stone a career path and help everyone out whilst also using the contacts we may have to our advantage. -
Finish university
after two years at uni i hope to finish witha degree and experience and knowladge that will help me in later life to get a career and be good at it. University won't just be good for the formal qualifications it will also be great for experience and help me collaborate with more people - which is always good -
JOB hunting???
after university i could try and obtain a formal career which i probably will aim to do, but i t wont be the one i want straight away, i assume i will need to work my way to that so i will aim to do that. i hope to get a job working as part of a music video creation team to work with various bands and record labels first, this should help loads and kick start my career -
Direct music video's and band documentry's
After a few months at working for a music video production team i hope to have some creative input into the idea process and this may lead to storyboarding or writing to director, any of which can help me to making the films i want to make so i hope by this time i will have directed at least 1 music video. i also hope to work on documenting bands but this will have to be freelance and independant but i may achieve these jobs by meeting the bands or record label's whilst making music video's. -
Be a music video director!
By this time i would like to be commisioned to direct films freelance with a team of people and work with small artists and labels making the video's i want to make, this will build my status in the industry and with record labels. -
Aim for a job working under contract with a record label within the creative department as a music video director/producer
I hope to achieve my career goal and work within a record label as a music video director/documentor for artists and bands. -
What now?
If by now i have achieved my goal then i will aim higher to make sure i can do the best i can possibly do using all of my prior experience -
Get an agent as a Director/Writer
if by now i don't have an agent for making films i should aim to get one so that i can extend my contacts and make bigger budget productions. -
Write
By now i hope to have a relatively successful career as amusic video directors but i hopw to start making bigger films so the best place to start is to write films and take some time out to write a good short or feature film with sellability -
Pitch and develop
With a career as a director for music video's and a portfolio of work in my pocket i hope to find financing to make a shrot film for television or cinema and develop the script so that it can be made and released publicly. i hope that this can start a possible career in film making. -
Create
I hope by now that i have achieved funding and development to make a film that can be released on TV or in cinema's. i hope that by now i can create the film and direct it, this will be a hard process but i hope that with the experience behind me i will be sucessfull and produce a film that is good enough to warrant the creation of another -
Make some shorts, documentaries etc
keep busy and have fun with making films that i want to make over 2015 and use the experience wisely to make better fioms in the future -
Write, Pitch and Create - BIGGER!!!
Firts feature? first one witha reasonable sized budget? i hope by now i can work on a film that is bigger and all of my prior work allows me to make something great that leads to a career in making feature's -
Make shorts, documentaries, music video's - only now people will take a little more notice than before
After making a feature length film i hope people will enjoy the film and enjoy whatever it is that i produce, however i fully intend to go back to making music video's, documentaries and shorts but i feel that if my film is successfull enough people will start to see my name rather than the film i will produce - as many people exploit the use of a successful name to make sure that things associated with that name are just as successfull, which could mean that films i make from now on are noticed -
Keep writing and pitch - might aswell, it's fun and i want to make films? what more do i need?
During 2017 i plan to keep on writing for bigger budget films in the hope they get made. i think this writing experience will help me relate to writers and the story line behind films futher - it will help me improve my overall film making skills -
Direct something you diddnt write for a change
I hope by now that i will stumble upon a script that a nag my agent for the role of director on so that i can become a real director and direct instead of creating then directing, i think this will be good and i hope that this happens on a film that i feel i can contribute to -
Do it all again!
10 years will have passed and through all of this i hope to have made a number of contacts, have a vast amount of experience in making films, and be marginally sucessfull (in the industry terms, the day my first music video is aired on TV is the day i am successful in my mind). But i hope to continue making films, i don't plan on being a producer i want to be a director or cinematographer and be with the creative side, i aim to make fims that allow me to collaborate with others forever.
