  • Taxation Without Representation

    The Taxation without Representation was made by Great Britain in 1763 to put taxes on everything because Britain was in debt after the French and Indian War. This made the colonists angry.

  • Proclamation of 1763

    King George III declared the Appalachian Mountains the boundary for the colonists at the end of the French and Indian War. Some Colonists were angry because the boundary kept them from getting to land that they had already bought.

  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was passed by Parliment to lower taxes on molasses imported to colonists to stop smuggling and increase tax revealing.

  • Stamp Act

    Parliment passed the Stamp Act to place taxes on all printed items because Great Britain was still in debt and wanted power. The Stamp Act angered colonists.

  • Quartering Act

    Parliment passed the Quartering Act to punish mutiny and payment of army because people neglected to do their duty. This angered the coloniists.

  • Declaratory Act

    Parliment passed the Declaratory Act so Parliment could tax and make desicions for British Colonists because Great Britain needed to regain control after the Stamp Act. Colonists did not like and wanted their power back.

  • Townshend Act

    Parliment passed the Townshend Act to set taxes on imported goods because Parliment wanted to make colonists happy. This had colonists outraged and protested against it. Colonists stopped buying British goods to protest.

  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a group of colonists who protested against British soldiers and acused the soldiers of being unfair. This made the colonists unhappy.

  • Tea Act

    Parliment created the Tea Act so that tea sent to the colonists was sold cheap so East India Company would profit. Colonists didn't like it because the Tea Act undercut the colonys' merchants.

  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped 300 barrels of tea into the Boston Harbour because the citizens of Boston refused the ships to unload the tea. The colonists later celebrated the bravery of the men.

  • Coercive Acts

    Parliment and King George III passed the Coercive Acts to punish Boston for dumping tea into the Boston Harbour during the Boston Tea Party. The Coercive Acts closed the Boston Harbour and cancelled town meetings in Boston until the colonists could pay back the tea that was lost. This made colonists angry because the the Coercive Acts isolated people in Boston

  • 1st Continental Congress

    55 men went to Philadelphia to represent the colonies, except Georgia, to reconstitute what was wrong in the colonies. The colonists formed militias to help congress.
