Taxation without Represation
Great Britain enforced taxes on, literally, everything. These taxes were enforced becasue Britain was in such an extreme debt after the French and Indian War. This of course made the colonists mad because they had to pay more. -
Proclamation of 1763
Issued by King George IV, the Proclamation of 1763 stated that the colonial border would be the appalachian mountains, happening becasue of the end of the French and Indian War; this made the colonists mad because many of them had land west of the appalachian mountians. -
Sugar Act
Passed by the Parliment, the Sugar Act lowered the taxes on molases that was sold by the colonists and shipped to England. Parliment issued this tax trying the reduce the rate of smuggling and to increase the tax revenue. This made the colonists mad because they lost money on their products. -
Stamp Act
Passed by the Parliment, the Stamp Act passed a tax on all printed items, i.e. stamps, paper, newspaper, etc., the Britains pushed for this tax to be issued becasue they were still in debt. The colonists were angered by this. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was put into place to punish the people who had rebeled, and as means of paying the army. The reason that Parliment felt the need to punish these people were, because the people were refusing to do their work or refused to do their duties. This of also made the colonists angry. -
Declaratory Act
Passed by Parliment, the Declaratory Act stated that Parliment had the right to tax and make desisions for the British. Parliment put this into place to regain coltrol after the Stamp Act failed. This of coarse made the British angry. -
Townshend Act
Parliment declared a set of taxes and laws on imported goods. They did this trying to make the colonists happy, but this plan failed and made the colonists mad. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston colonies rebeled against the the British, becasue they were so sick of the things that the British soldiers were doing. Colonists, even though happy to rebel, where mad because the british then used this event as a form of propoganda. -

Intolerable Acts
A series of acts passed by the Parliment and King George IV. The Boston Harbour was closed until Boston could pay off the damage they caused from the Boston Tea Party. King George was trying to punsih the colonists for rebeling. This of coarse made the colonists angry. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act, enforced by the Parliment, stated that British tea that was shipped to the colonies was to be sold cheap;to profit the East Indian Company. This in turn took business away from the colonies so they became angry. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Sons of Liberty threw 342 barrels of tea off of a British ship becasue they were so sick of the tea taxes. The citizens of Boston celebrated in the streets the next day because of their victory. -
1st Continental Congress
55 representatives of all the colonies, excluding Georgia, met to represent the American people and try to change the rule they were under. The colonists formed militias to help these representatives.
