    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act of 1766 asserted Great Britain's power and authority over the colonist's. Great Britain really wanted to make sure that the colonist knew that they had all the power and at anytime could over rule the colonist for any reason. The colonist didn't really have their own government. But, they could make rules for themselves. If Great Britain wanted to change their rule they could. That's what Britain was trying to let the colonists know by starting the Declaratory Act.

    Townshend Act
    In the Townshend Act, Britain added new taxes for the colonists to pay on things like tea, paper, and glass. They did this because they had a big ammount of debt that they couldn't pay off them selves. So they started taxing the colonists on regular everyday items so they could help them raise the money to get their war debt payed off. The colonists were mad about this because they weren't going to be able to drink tea as much. Or just buy a newpaper without using to much of their money.

    Boston Massacre
    At the Boston Massacre Colonist and British soldiers got into a conflict. A fight broke out in the streets. The British soldiers got angry and shot and killed 5 innocent colonists in Boston for just speaking their opinoin. This angered the colonists even more. So they planned a way to get the British back. It is called the Boston Tea Party.

    In the Tea Act Britain wanted to reassert that they could tax the colonists whenever they wanted to and for whatever reason. They did this because they needed more money to pay off their war debt. As you can see...Britain was out to get as much money from the colonists as they could. The colonist started to get angry because all their money was going to a war that they really weren't much of a part of.

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party is an event where some of the colonists from Boston tried to stand up for themselves and the 5 people who were killed during the Massacre. Some of the colonists from Boston dressed up as Mohawk Indians and went to the Boston Harbor and dumped over 45 tons of tea in the harbor to get the British mad. Great Britain were so mad they closed down the Harbor. This was hard on the colonists because they needed to get from place to place and ships couldn't come in to bring them good
